Well its’ Week 2 of the One Room Challenge and we are sharing our progress of our Living Room Transformation. In case you missed Week 1 you can see our living room design plan by clicking here. We are transforming our living room over the next six weeks along with other interior designers and bloggers who are redoing a space over the next six weeks also, and sharing their progress each Thursday at Calling It Home.
I thought this week I would share a few of the living rooms I have been inspired by for our space, from some of my favorite interior designers work. All of these designs have one thing in common, the color scheme. The same tones that I plan to carry out in my design, neautrals, blues and the rich caramel leather color for a little contrast.
Inspiration is an intrigual part of the interior design process for me. It’s a great starting point to come up with a feel and look you want your room or design to have once you get to the end result.
The first two designs are by Brooke Wagner Design and they have a casual elegant feel to them. The first one is a bit more traditional with an East Coast feel while the second one is a bit more modern with a California cool vibe. Probably while I love them both! I usually fall more in the middle mixing the two styles ending up with a casual sophisticated transitional look for our home.
The next two living rooms are designed by Studio McGee. Both have a modern yet casual look about them. I think I’m drawn to these two designs because they also seem to be designed to be family friendly with the open concept layouts and the versatile furniture selections both using a caramel leather sofa. Our living room is going to be lived in everyday by our family. We have a little one who will be grabbing and crawling all over the furniture, so leather is a must for the next couple years at least.
As for our living room design, since last week we are making good progress so far! Our occasional chairs have been delivered and installed along with our Dash and Albert rug. I am absolutely in love with the Samson rug from Dash and Albert!!! It is looking great in the space already, if I do say so myself! I have ordered our navy linen ottoman. I am seriously hoping it is going to make it in time for the final reveal, delivery timing is a bit longer than expected. Crossing my fingers! One issue that has come up so far is that my originally sourced small white lacquer chest from Wisteria is on back order until January….bummer. I think I may have to source another end table alternative or decide to live with the fact that what I really want will not be here in time for the reveal and just wait for it to arrive. Decisions…Decisions.Be sure to follow the other One Room Challenge designs at Calling It Home.
